CU Woodshop offers classes to enhance your skills in the DreamShop adjacent to our store. Our current class schedule is listed below, but we continue to add new offerings to our calendar. If you would like to be among the first to know about new classes, as well as demonstrations of the latest tools and accessories, sign up for our email list.

Current Class Schedule

Class Parkland College - Intro to Woodturning (WCE 316-002)
Date Wednesdays, September 1 – October 6
Time 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Description Skilled craftsmen have been using the lathe for woodturning for centuries. Learn how you can turn a piece of wood into a beautiful work of art.

Registration Through Parkland College by August 26, 2010
Things to Know Maximum of 4 students, each person will have their own lathe.

Class CU Woodshop Pen Turning
Date Thursday, September 2
Time 1:30 – 3 p.m.
Description Use basic skills to make a beautiful pen. Learn the turning process while working with these components: pen kits, pen blanks, mandrels, and the pen press. You will make a handcrafted pen on the lathe. Pens make great gifts!

Cost $35 per person.
Registration Prepayment at CU Woodshop reserves your space, walk-ins accepted if space is available.
Things to Know Maximum of 4 students, each person will have their own lathe.

Class CU WoodShop Segmented Woodturning
Date Saturday, September 11
Time Session 1: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Session 2: 1 – 2:30 p.m.
Description Two-part lecture on the art of segmented bowl turning. Session 1 covers basics of design, material selection, cutting fixtures, assembly techniques and turning processes. Session 2 covers fixture set-up and turning techniques.
Instructor Paul Cobb
Cost $30 per person.
Registration Prepayment due no later than one week in advance at CU Woodshop.

Class CU WoodShop Toy Making
Date Saturday, September 25
Time 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Description See amazing projects and learn how you can make wooden toys that will, at the very least please a child, and more likely become family heirlooms.
